Services – Accomplishing Our Mission
At Gramercy Park Tutors we have two different teams that are constantly at work with your student to carry out our ambitious mission:
Our
Tutoring Team is comprised of experts in every field, including a large contingency of speech-language pathologists with expertise in specific learning situations.
Our
Home Team is a mixture of teachers and education policy experts that have more experience within school administration and are in charge of student-family-teacher-school communication.
The Tutoring
For two separate hours a week, an expert member of our tutoring team works with your child at your home. These two hours are reserved for
- Completing challenging and pressing school work,
- Establishing positive study routines and school behavior,
- Discussing, discovering and working on difficulties that the students has at school with work, peer, and teacher interaction.
Our tutors are incredible professionals. They understand that building a love and passion for learning in a child is invaluable for the future. They make each session at your home fun, engaging and extremely rewarding.
The Meeting
At the end of every week at the Gramercy Park Tutors office, the tutoring team and the home team meet to discuss your child specifically. Where have we made progress? What should we be working on? What school challenges lie ahead of us? Who should we be communicating with more often? This hour-long weekly meeting serves to inform the home-team of what is going on with the student and to brainstorm alongside the tutor who knows your child best. At these meetings we celebrate your child and family accomplishments and discuss the ways we could best move forward.
The Consulting
Communicate, Evaluate, and Plan
After the meeting, it is now the home-team’s job to close out the week and plan for the future. While communication with families, teachers and schools is ongoing, the home team prepares a review for the family at the beginning of every week. This review alternates weekly between an informal conversation about progress and a formal evaluation and Goal Review we call the ‘GPT Meter’ (Goal, Progress, Task Accomplished)
